Analyzing Supergranular Power Spectra Using Helioseismic Normal-mode Coupling

نویسندگان

چکیده

Normal-mode coupling is a technique applied to probe the solar interior using surface observations of oscillations. The technique, which straightforward implement, makes more use seismic information in wavefield than other comparable local imaging techniques and therefore has potential significantly improve current capabilities. Here, we examine supergranulation power spectra mode-coupling analyses intermediate-to-high-degree modes by invoking Cartesian-geometric description wave propagation under assumption that localized patches are much smaller size radius. We extract supergranular spectrum compare results with prior helioseismic studies. Measurements dispersion relation life times supergranulation, obtained near (f p$_1$), accord literature. show cross-coupling between p$_2$ p$_3$ acoustic modes, capable probing greater depths, also sensitive supergranulation.

Noise reduction in helioseismic power spectra by non-orthogonal wavelets

We present a method to reduce noise in helioseismic power spectra using a non-orthogonal wavelet transform based on quadratic spline functions. The quality of our method is tested by applying it to artificially generated time-series approximating solar p-modes. The mode frequencies and line widths obtained from leastsquares fits to the smoothed spectra are compared with the corresponding parame...

Non-commutative Power-law Inflation: Mode Equation and Spectra Index

Following an elegant approach that merge the effects of the stringy spacetime uncertainty relation into primordial perturbations suggested by Brandenberger and Ho, we show the mode equation up to the first order of non-commutative parameter. A new approximation is provided to calculate the mode functions analytically in the non-commutative power-law inflation models. It turns out that non-commu...

Local Mode Overtone Spectra

theory is based on simple physical considerations that large length scale polymer properties must provide universal laws embodying the long chainlike character of polymers. These laws are represented in terms of scaling laws and their generalization to the important regions of intermediate excluded volume where the power law exponents are no longer universal constants. A motivation is provided ...

Interpreting correlated motions using normal mode analysis.

With the increased popularity of normal mode analyses in structural biology, it is important to carefully consider how to best utilize the results for gaining biological insights without over interpretation. The discussion in this article argues that for the purpose of identifying correlated motions in biomolecules, a case separate from concomitant conformational changes of structural motifs, i...
